The history of Baccarat is interesting and somewhat convoluted. Some believe that Baccarat was invented in Italy and other trace its heritage to France. Regardless the name translated in either language still means, “zero” in English. There are many variations of the game that are played in Australia and all around the world. The game was introduced in the United States about 1911 when it was brought to the spas and racetracks of southern Florida. While the game was not readily accepted in the US it flourished in Europe and Asia. Enough of the history – let’s move on the nuts and bolts of Baccarat.
Sorry. Baccarat is luck and there is no strategy. There is no known method to maximize your percentages and increase your chances of success. However, there are a few do-bee’s and don’t bees that must be followed. Other than the rules outlined below there is nothing else to know.
Baccarat is an elegant simple game
The most import thing is to enjoy that game and the environment. Don’t get caught up in other people’s silliness. Think about it, if there was an credibility to noting down the numbers of the previous winners, the casinos would have banned such practice long ago and called it cheating.
When you are playing Baccarat you cannot change your bet in the middle of a hand – this is not allowed. Now, you might consider counting cards as a method to improve your chances of winning at Baccarat. Yes, it will increase your odds – slightly. However, in our opinion the additional time and effort involved is simply not worth the headache of counting cards. Better to just enjoy the game.
How to win at baccarat?
Some “experts” claim that patterns can be seen in Baccarat. And thus, you will see people who take meticulous notes as they watch the play unfold. The voodoo-chasers refer to this addiction as: pattern chasing / spotting or a trend. It is nothing more than superstition. Do not allow yourself to be taken in by this foolishness. It is a way to pass the time and study the game. But, it will never amount to additional winnings.
Actually, there is only thing to track in Baccarat and that is whether you are ahead or behind. It is always better to quit while you are ahead. Do it. Always. Just walk right out of the casino firm in the knowledge that you left a winner. The alternative is to stay, try and win more. However, that will never happen. After all, the house has the odds and you will, most likely, walk out a loser.
When James Bond gambles he almost always plays Baccarat and, for us, that is reason enough to play the game. Have fun and good luck.
